@ My Dentist – 2
I went to see my periodontist, Dr Kris Jackson this morning for a gum graft. If you’ve never had this done, the procedure sounds much worse than it is. The mouth is an amazing thing and the tissue re-grows really quickly, filling in where they cut a small hunk out to graft to the deteriorated area.
Now, while I was there we had to discuss dental office design, of course! Dr Jackson has carpeting in her operatories and her cabinets are showing a bit of wear and tear. She and her partners did not design the office originally, but have inherited the layout and décor from a previous practice. She agrees with me that the carpeting in the operatories must go! This has to be one of the most unsanitary approaches to designing an operatory I’ve ever seen. Yes, they eliminate any noise from rolling about in your treatment chair, but carpets can never be made totally clean – and they are performing surgery in these rooms!
Her equipment is all A-dec, so I was checking out whether or not I thought the chair was comfortable or not as I was lying there with my mouth open. Once Dr Jackson’s assistant adjusted the head rest it became much more comfortable. Prior to that I felt like my head was being jammed into my shoulders. Not a great way to feel when one is trying to hold still for surgery. Overall, I’d say the chair wasn’t too bad.
I must recommend Dr Jackson if anyone is in need of periodontal work. She does an amazing job. This is the third round of this treatment I’ve had performed and I am always pain free. Simply amazing.
