Today I Went Shopping…

Today I went shopping for a mirror.  This mirror is going in the client bath, so it is going to be a highly visible part of the dental office design.  Now, one would not think this would be a big deal, but sometimes this can be tricky.  After all, a lot of time and energy has gone into creating just the right dental office design for this particular client and we are now down to the small things that can make or break the final presentation.  As my grandmother used to tell me, “The devil is in the details.”  How true Grandma was!

So often at this stage of the projects my clients suddenly start getting squeamish about the amount of money they are spending.  Now is not the time to suddenly start pinching pennies!  After all of the time, money, and energy that has gone into creating a well thought out office design and interior branding message, one should not start trying to save money by cutting the small things that are very visible to the clients and make a huge difference in the final impact.  That is kind of like buying a wedding cake and then saying, “But we don’t want any icing flowers on it.”  Come on folks, we’re only talking peanuts compared with the overall project budget.

During today’s shopping adventure I found a frame that perfectly pulled the birdseye from the casework and the brushed aluminum from the hardware together in one element.  It will coordinate well with these aspects of the office design.  Fortunately, this particular client understands the importance of the details and isn’t sending me out to find “just any ol’ mirror” to hang in the bath.
