Rainy Days and Mondays…
How does the song by the Carpenters go? “Rainy days and Mondays always get me down?” Fortunately, for me this is rarely true. I especially like rainy, stormy days if I can just lie in bed and listen to the storm. I find this really relaxing. This is not true for many people. They dread getting out of bed. They also dread going to see their dentist. Can you imagine how bad they must feel if they have a double or triple whammy of having to get out of bed on a rainy day and also go to their dentist the same day? Or, for them, worse yet is if it is a Monday, too?
This is where a good dental office design and interior branding strategy comes in. The goal is to make people feel better about coming to see their dentist. Through the five elements of interior branding, we want to create a dental office design that makes people feel good about their time at the dentist. This starts the moment they walk through the front door to the office. On rainy days and Mondays this starts before they even get out of bed. The positive feelings that are generated during the last visit to the dentist have to be persistent enough in their memory that they can overcome the desire to stay inside and not go out on rainy days and Mondays. This means these positive feelings have to be really strong when a patient leaves the dental office.
By working together, the five elements create a targeted emotional response in patients. They talk to their family and friends about the positive experiences they have when they visit their dentist’s office. Their family and friends start going to see the same dentist so they can start having similar good feelings when they visit the dental office. The dentist and staff start feeling like good friends rather than merely a service provider and a chore of something one must do. When the dental office design and interior branding strategy reach this level of emotional impact in a patient, it can overcome any rainy day – even if it is on a Monday.
